Two 500g bags of Pharmatropia Yerba Maté provide 1kg of unflavoured Ilex paraguariensis. This is the strongest-value option for frequent loose-leaf drinkers.
Earthy, vegetal and adjustable
100–200 modern cup brews*
Frequent drinkers and sharing
*Based on 5–10g per modern cup; traditional gourd preparation uses more leaf and repeated refills.
How to brew
For a modern cup or French press, use 5–10g with approximately 70–80°C water and steep for 3–5 minutes. For iced Maté, brew stronger, cool and add ice. For traditional use, pair it with a gourd and bombilla.
Compared with coffee
Yerba Maté and coffee both contain caffeine. Compare actual portions and preparation strength, particularly when refilling traditional Maté several times.
Caffeine and important safety information
Yerba Maté naturally contains caffeine. Prepared strength varies with the amount used, water temperature, steeping time and repeated infusions. Start conservatively if you are caffeine-sensitive and avoid it close to bedtime.
Ask an appropriate healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an anxiety disorder, heart-rhythm condition or uncontrolled blood pressure, or use stimulant medicines, MAO inhibitors, some decongestants or other products containing caffeine. Count coffee, tea, energy drinks, chocolate and pre-workouts toward your total daily caffeine.
