Dasipis Hyraceum (locally known as dassiepis)

Higher progesterone levels mean that GABA function increases. Dassiepis, which has been shown to have an affinity with GABA-benzodiazepine receptors, balances and regulates the endocrine system which controls the hormones. As the main inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA plays a role in promoting calm, good mood, and sleep. Dassiepis is the fossilized menstrual secretions of the Rock Hyrax (the dassie) found in a solid form (like stone) in rocky crevices and caverns. It takes hundreds of years to form and is very scarce. Dassiepis is traditionally also used as a cure for Epilepsy. It is currently used as a fixative in the perfume industry, as well as for natural medicinal healing.

Moerbos (Trichogyne repens) (L.) Anderb. – Asteraceae Family –

This plant is used to treat menstrual complaints and male/female infertility and also used to clean out the womb. It is known to have GABA receptors.

Slangbos (Stoebe Plumose) (L.) Thunb. LEP148/09 LEP16/09 – Asteraceae Family

Slangbos which also works on GABA, is used to treat stomach and menstrual complaints and spasmodic colon. It is used in douches and as a base for soap.

Devils Claw

Devil’s claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is a plant native to South Africa. It owes its ominous name to its fruit, which has small, hook-like projections. Traditionally, the roots have been used to treat a wide range of ailments, such as fever, pain, arthritis, and indigestion.

Root of David (Cissampelos capensis)

The Root of David is used in this remedy for its masculine properties and anti-inflammatory action. Cissampelos is a genus of flowering plants in the family Menispermaceae. Various species of this genus have a rich history of traditional use in the treatment of asthma, cough, fever, arthritis, obesity, dysentery, snakebite, jaundice and heart problems, blood pressure and skin-related problems.

Valerian Root

Valerian root is also used to treat menstrual problems, amenorrhea, swelling and generalised body pains.The spiritual properties attributed to Valerian are gentle healing powers, reconciliation between loved ones, promoting feelings of love and devotion and easing pain and loneliness.

Ashwagandha

This Ayurvedic herb is known as an adaptogenic, in that it adapts to what your body needs. It is used to reduce stress hormones and stimulate blood flow to the female reproductive organs.
